Cool Clutch cable for my Ultra

I am just posting this to vent for a moment. I finally got around to changing my clutch cable out that My local Dealer said needed to be replaced when they installed a new rear tire. Better safe than sorry. I am headed out for a trip this week! Tore the bike apart sat eve. only to find that the new cable is maybe 10" to 12" too short. I ordered this bike new and have never changed this cable in the past. The dealer did put on 2" pull back bars when they assembled the bike new. So was the cable changed out then? I hope they take the new cable back so I can get the correct length. BTW I bought this cable 2years ago. Hmmm. I wonder how they knew I "needed a new cable" Heck I need anther rear tire again. Oh that tire was not aligned very well either. There was a whine (rubbing sound) since they mounted that tire then. They said when I returned it nothing was wrong. If You look at the wear patteren it looks like it was dog tracking. Sorry for the long letter just to vent.

Sounds like you need to change your dealer too.

Ask for a 38649-98 cable and you'll be fine.

Cool

Thank You for the help. FYI I did go back to the dealer tonight after work. Got the cable they said was the correct one. At least in length. I even brought the old cable in. The number was wore off btw. Well You know what I am going to say. It was the wrong one. This time I had it hooked up along with my new BURLY brand light lever kit (Which had to be reworked. . Well back out to the shop and pull it apart again. 11PM and up for work at 4AM. Still going on my trip this week when its done. I will bring in that # 38649-98 and see if they have that one.

Thanks again.
Jim
