Was just in the Shenandoah Valley at the beginning of last week. Beautiful scenery out there! Glad your bike performed well and you had a great time!

Love the parkway! Mostly in the Asheville NC area. If you have the opportunity, try to stay at the Pisgah Inn on top of Mt Pisgah. http://www.pisgahinn.com/. In my opinion it is an excellent half-way stop for dinner and breakfast.

I love my new to me 99 EG Standard, me and the wife are leaving in the morning for our first road trip, going to the Outer Banks in NC the senic route. Can't wait, I love riding this thing. I agree, most peole cause their own problems, people telling me to upgrade with cams and things, I like it the way it is, if I want to upgrade anything to go faster it will be my race car.

Did the parkway and some back roads thru different states about the same distance as well, loaded 2-up. Not a problem whatsoever, beautiful scenic ride, even in the heat and rain ! Your right, great bike, great country.

Yeah, that works. But with all due respect to those that live in the "nations breadbasket" I don't look forward to the ride across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas/Nebraska (take your pick). I'm not used to riding in flat and featureless terrain. (Before the flames begin, I was born in Nebraska and visited relatives there every summer and then went to my last 2 years of high school and undergraduate school in Ohio. So I am speaking from experience.)
