I bet at least 75% of you would bash anything made in China on another topic besides defending your cheap lift purchase. Granted, plenty about Harley is not made in America, especially the clothes but be honest with yourselves. I'm all about saving a buck but like I said I got tired of replacing the bottle jacks on my HF. And try finding one of those not made in China. The last one was made in Canada but just did not fit the lift properly.

 

..jeez-Louise..gotta laugh at the "pretzle-logic" I see used to "defend" a $400 jack...if you have a $400 jack...more power to ya!...to each his own...but to try and say there is something "wrong" with the Sears Red jack,as I have..or the HB's...is just childish..I put the jack under the bike...I pump it up with the foot pedal...and then I put down the SAFETY BAR....then I strap it down..there is NO WAY it's coming down by itself...the "junk iron" isn't going to crumble, or melt...the bike sits just fine..I do my work, lower it...and love the $350 bucks I saved.....good grief...

 

Just got a used pitbull jack for 300 bucks. Was gonna get one of the sears jacks but decided since i was gonna be pulling the wheels off and doing quite a bit of maintenance on it I better not buy something I will feel unsure about. Seeing the videos of the pitbull in action is what sold me on it. Sure i watched some videos of the sears jack being used but it just looked really unsafe to me personally. To each there own but 300 didnt brake the bank for me so I went with it. I was gonna borrow a buddies sears jack until I saw him drop his honda 650 off of it while trying to let it down. I dont feel sorry at all about spending the extra. It's all about your peace of mind and comfort level. For me the pitbull was a no brainer.

 

I have a jack I bought about 10 years ago from Sam's. Use it damn near every week with no problems. Gave less than $100 for it.

I believe if there was a problem with motorcycle jacks this forum would be full of complaints from members bitching about them.

It's starting to look like the ones who are running down the Sears and HF jacks have got a case of the red *** because they spent $300 more for a jack that does the same thing as the $100 jack.

Those $30,000 motorcycles have China written all over them but by God your $400 jack is made in America. WOW!

I have a cheap red one from Harbor freight. I've used it for about 5 years with zero problems. I move the bike all around the garage on it with now wobbles or scares, it's rock solid. In fact it makes it easy to move my bike all the way into the corner and flush against the wall and I leave it there on the jack all winter.

 

I think your analysis is probably about right on. As stated earlier, my Sears jack has served me well for about six years. (bike is up on it now and stays there when not rolling down the road) And I don't even strap the bike down! I'm not knocking the the J&S or Pitbull at all....quality products both.....everyone should buy what they want. I found this for $1000! Better than 1/2 price! Don't ever see needing a Pitbull or J&S jack! (lawnmower fits well on it too!)

 

After about a year mine is still good. And yes look for coupons got mine for $69. I will caution, it feels flimsy and maybe thats cause picking up such a load and if you move it at all use caution and go slow. Good luck and I agree with everything on the first review so just a brief report after a years usage.

 

With the HF yellow jack, after you lift the bike to the height and lock it with the locking bar, do most of you then strap the bike to the jack? If so, do you use those loops welded to the jack? They look pretty flimsy. I may wrap the strap around the jack frame then cinch the straps.

Also, is there a preferred side to jack the bike from to change all three holes?

 

Well I guess I have a great job to support my Harley. This is my workshop and and i can use it anytime I want.

Yes these are motorcycle lifts with side extensions. They have drop away door for removing wheels or what ever.
