Harbor Freight Cycle Jack - the yellow one!

Overall safety, ease of use, durability, & performance is what I'm concerned with! I could not care less about a $3.00 oil seal. If I need any replacement part for my jack a real live person is on the other end of an 800# for my possible parts needs with a great attitude & in this country too! Try the customer service with your 5 year old out of warranty $60.00 Chinese jack & see how far you get!...............
If you go on thier website theres a Coupon for it right now for $69...........probably won't see it for $59 anymore.

Me too...I use it all the time. There's a time for sparing no expense for equipment and when it came to the HF jack there was no need. I'll spend it if need be.....just wasn't one of those times.

I finally experimented with mine. There is a stop screw under the allen head plug and I turned it one turn OUT and it seemed to decrease the lowering speed a little. Stand the jack on end so the allen plug is the highest part of the jack and fluid loss will be minimized.
The parts diagram is not detailed enough to see how the lowering bleed works but I figure there is a crown on the end of the lowering pin and the farther down the pedal is pushed, the farther the crown goes into the bleed hole and partially restricts the fluid flow. I tried turning the stop screw in one turn and lost the lower speed lowering, while one turn out from the factory setting seemed to slow the drop a bit.

HF yellow jack
Like some others I agree, you get what you pay for. I too bought the HF yellow jack mainly to raise my '02 RK so I can clean the spoke wheels and white wall tires. I experimented a few times to see where the sweet spot was on my bike. The jack worked just fine. I raised it until the locking posts passed the first notch then I lowered it to lock and take pressure off the jack itself. I used the brake screws near the rear casters. I turned them down until they just make contact. Pretty stable. I took some tie down straps and hooked them to the bolts under the lift pad crisscrossed over the seat and attached them on the other side to the lift pad. No problem. I bought a pack of 1/2" washers and shimmed up the lift arms, and front wheels. This tightened up the jack a good bit. Although you can move the lift with the bike on it, in the instructions it says Do Not Do This ! I see where you could move it a short distance maybe against the wall for storage would be okay. Can you buy a better jack ? Sure you can. I opted to spend the extra $$$ on a Corbin seat and backrest.
