Default 2006 Seat strap, don't like it! Want passenger handrail!

I have the 2006 Ultra Classic without the passenger handrail. According to the dealer, the handrail will not fit because of the new mounting for the trip trunk and the rear speaker boxes. Has anyone mounted the standard handrail? If so, what did you do to accomodate the handrail?

thanks, much

That's what the catalogue says.

Sorry not sure about the handles but I also had an 06 Ultra and hated that strap. I finally took it off but soon realized that the eintire seat was then held on by the one screw in the rear. Just be careful!! That strap connects to the hard bag mounts and helps secure the seat.

The chrome handrails will fit the '06 and '07 Ultra's with the Tour Pak in the back position. I know this because I have an '07 and mounted the chrome hand rail. It clears the speaker pods by approx 1/4". It may fit with the Tour Pack inthe forward position but I've not tried that configuration. Bonzo may be kidding about the seat being held by only one screw. The strap and or chrome hand rail do not secure the seat. The Ultra seats have been held on with one bolt for at least the last 8 years.

How many screws did you have on other bikes to fasten your seat with? I've only had one screw on any of my other rides. The strap is not there to hold the seat on. That was the 1st thing I took off.

Yea, the forward end of the seat now has the metal insert that goes into the frame, so it's really held on with 2 mount points.

thanks for your input on the back mounting position!!

Rollon!

Why do you need the strap or the handrails? The TP should keep your passenger pretty snug up there.

Need???? What an interesting comment from someone who ones a Harley.

You NEED the handrail when your wife is used to occassionally holding onto the handrail on your '99 Ultra, you trade for an '07 and it's the first thing she notices about the new bike.

That's the definition of NEED.

That's the way the FLH seats have been mounted since before '99.

I can appreciate your reason and explanation for the handstrap, but you have completely lost me on your statement to me inquiring about the need for it just because I own a Harley? [sm=confused06.gif]
