If I didn't already have the XM moduel I would have went with aftermarket.
I just didn't want the hassel of selling my unit, then buying another unit for the aftermartket.
I read several threads about aftermarket radios crapping out to, so nothing is perfect.
But I had Iron Cross fix mine. They are great people with a great turn around time.

I have a 2000 Electra Glide std. I put the rear speaker pods, hog tunes kit w/amp and upgraded all 4 speakers. I recently installed the biketronics BT1005 for and after market JVC CD player so I did not have to cut any wires. Kit came from cycle accessories. I was using an ipod plgged in until the stock cassete player aux went out, so I needed to do something. I wired in the amp for 4 speakers instead of just two. Install only took like 4 hrs, but sounds BADASS!! Now I need some upgraded speakers form the hogtunes upgraded. If you contact cycle accessories ask for Mark (USN/E-8/Senior Chief).

Don't forget about the waterproof advantage of the factory radio. It is really a good radio with a lot of features. Iron Cross can also put you a 3.5mm jack in the back, which is what I wish I had.

The "Most" must refer to those that replace the Factory Radio. Most of the bikes I see still have the Factory radio.
If you walk around any Rally, you will see most still have the Factory radio. I love mine.

it's really water resistant....as long as the bike is moving forward...it will resist water damage....like many...found out the hardway...a few rain drops directly on the controls...and your radio begins the iron cross summer camp program.

Iron Cross IMHO. I sent mine in a few months back for vibration damage and a bad connection at the aux jack. The best 250 you will ever spend. Like Gliden said this unit will come back bullet proof. They will make your unit better than new.
