I have a 2006 Ultra Classic. The horn was working recently then a few days ago it made a strange whimpy honk and has not worked since. When I press the horn button I can hear a whirling noise from the horn but nothing else. Any trouble shooting tips?
Is the air horn repairable or should I look to replace it?

I don't have an air horn, but I can tell you it would be helpful to know the brand name and model # of the horn you have. Maybe someone else has had the same issue. But if I had to guess your problem, I think we can rule out electrical. Perhaps an air hose inside the unit became disconnected? Maybe dry rotted?
If you don't have a name or model # then pics of the unit would also help
There are a lot of smart folks here. Provide as much info as you can and I'm sure you will get the answers you are looking for

The make is COMPACT ( made in Italy) .
I had just washed the bike a few days ago but the horn was working after that.
I checked the connections to the horn and they feel tight. There are no frayed wires or dry rotted air hose
I bought the bike in Jan 2011 used. So I do not know the history of when the air horn was added.

Well I actually resolved my own problem. There was power to the horn but the whirling noise I mentioned was due to an a small gap between the trumpets and the compressor. When I slide the trumpets up to close the gap between the trumpets and the compressor the horn started working again.
The horn is going to need replacing with a new one in the very near future.
