Default Battery replacement on my 2010 FLHTK

When should I expect to replace my battery and with what type should I replace it with?
I have stored it two Winters with a tender and it doesn't seem to have the "crank" it once did.
Should I go to the dealer or aftermarket vendor?
Thanks,
Glen

I would replace the battery when you push the start button and it goes....aahrrrer. Then I'd get one of these...http://www.etx30l.com/

I have used HD's OEM batteries. I tried aftermarket one time & will never do that again. Just my 2 cents.

Thumbs up H-D sealed batteries rule!

Personally, my experiences with H-D sealed batteries has been great. For instance, the 14 year old H-D sealed battery in my '94 Dyna still works just as well as it did the day it was installed.

I'd never even consider any other brand. Of course, its very likely that since my battery was made, the MOCO realized that their batteries were actually lasting and giving their customers their money's worth - and therefore they immediately went to an inferior battery maker/supplier (Chinese junk?).

Seems to be the trend with the MOCO these days.

Ordered mine from Battery Mart, the same battery HD uses but without the cost for the harley stcker. Go to the website and down on the bottom of the page sign up for email and get a discount. They ship pretty quick also.

Many of us, including myself have went with Batterymart's ETX30L Battery, as it is basically the same battery as HD's. Exide probably makes them for HD and puts on the "HD" label.

If you are concerned about your battery, buy a new one, pull the old one.
You can get the EXT30L for a little less than $90 bux shipped to your house .

Peace of mind is worth that much,(that's how I justified it anyway, that and cheap insurance) and a tow and all the BS that goes with that would cost much more, and be a hellova lot more aggravating, especially since you don't know when it may go out, or where you may be when it does.

My OEM battery lasted 3 years, always on a battery tender, and it was time to replace due to slow starting. I went with the batterymart replacement. This battery has a lot of good comments on this website and half the price of Harley's battery.

Ordered from BatteryMart.com today. The H-D 66010-97C, Big Crank and Deka ETX-30L are the same battery made by East Penn in the USA. Request an MSDS to verify link http://www.dekabatteries.com/assets/base/c.pdf - When you order from BatteryMart.com sign up for their newsletter and get a 10% discount on your first order. For my 07 FLHTCUI a Big Crank ETX-30L was $88.16 to my door, no tax and free shipping.
