All service from the dealer is charged from the labor time/cost book. If it states 1 hour and it takes 1/2hr., your still billed 1 hr. On the other hand, if it takes 2 hrs., you're still billed for the 1 hr. as stated in the book. I agree that you should've been quoted the total parts and labor to begin with.

Ok...I know some of these guys are in the wrong position and should maybe be doing something else, but this seems a bit like piling on ...i mean, they have to have at least the most basic knowledge. Like, they know waht a motorcycle is.....right?

(and guys at the dealership I go to seem to know what's up....they don't work on my bike, but they seem ok)

What work, there are no new jobs? Unless you are working for the government. There are lots of new government jobs.

OK, I'll be generous and say 3 minutes. Tops.
I got a radio flash cause I couldn't do it myself. Dealer pulled the left bag and side cover. Then the right bag and side cover to find the ALDL. So sometimes you have to double the time. Then I made sure the grommets in the side covers weren't mangled or missing (one gone when I purchased the bike later found two on one post on other side) and the bag fasteners were done correctly so that added at least a few minutes of my time.

Get the invoice and it turned into $379.00. $140.00 for the Stage one, $150.00 for the digital download and $90.00 labor. I'm not even sure they put in a new air cleaner!!!!!
Feel behind the aircleaner. If open and can touch filter, they charged you $140 for the standard high flow airfilter kit, $150 for the download and $90 labor to install the intake and download the software. Very smart to do for correct AFV with high aircleaner. Now get a set of XiEDs to enrichen the closed loop to 13.9 and you will be happy. Btw, open loop is 13.9 - 12.5 so I believe the XiEDs are a perfect match if your plan is high flow aircleaner and slip ons or full pipes. If plan on more engine mods such as cam, XiEDs are not the answer and a full tuner is needed.
