Default Brake cable too short w/10" WO bars?

Doing the handlebar swap from stock to 10" WO mini apes and the brake cable is not long enough. I was under the impression the stock clutch and brake are long enough on a 2008 Road King Classic. Is there a trick I am miising? Internally wired the bars and installed heated grips also. Can I get a longer cable at the dealer or do I need to special order this? Looks to be another 3-4" in length needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On my '12 RKC, I just re-routed my brake cable from inside the headlight, and that gave me the slack I needed.....

Hope that helps

Tried that. If I run it outside of the headlight housing it is still tight and just doesnt look quite right. Thanks. Anyone else?

Just straightened mine out (carefully), but I have a fairing, so it was easy to hide. Lots more visible on a RK.

Cut your brake line, add in a 5 inch piece & double flare your ends! Should be 1/4 inch.
Hatch.

Thanks hatchet, I will suggest that to my buddy helping today. I just did not think he wanted to do that. Is it pretty common to cut and lengthen or should I replacethe whole thing for safety?

Only thing is if you still have the stock cable you cant just change it, you have to replace the splitter block under the tripletree. Once youve done that you wont ever have to again. Changing to taller bars requires changing a lot more items than one originally thinks. Even doing it all myself by the time its all said and done, It was pretty involved. I went longer on all my cabling in the event I go with taller bars Ive got all the cabling ready.

So I cannot just buy a longer cable and install it?
