Default Thinking about a King with a carb

I'm thinking about getting an older Road King with a carb. Anything I should avoid or look for? Any particular year more desirable? I'm going to keep the Ultra, but just want a wind-in-my-face bike.

If it's an older bike with the stock carb , go for it.
I bought my last bike 2006 FLHT because it had a carb and it was easy and inexpensive to tune.
At least a carb bike will generally make it home , even if it runs kinda bad , where an injected bike will need a tow.
The stock harley carbs are very easy to tune and the parts are available nearly everywhere.

It'll be a good deal,if the bike is ok.Check to see if the factory cover(the plug over the adjustment screw) is still on the carb. That way you'll know for sure if it's been gone into.If it's still their the bike is going to probley be lean in the fuel mixture. You can pop it off sometimes,or drill through it,just go slow when you get there you can adjust your carb. It'll make a world of difference,if you have experience doing so>.

I prefer a carb over fi just for the reason you are not dead in the water if the fuel pump fails. Just remember if you are looking at a 2000 and up cam chain tensioners might need to be replaced. From reading on this forum the 02 year seemed to be the one with the least problems.
