Default new clutch cable has too much slack

has all stainless braided cables and lines installed when i had my bike painted and new bars (10'' mini apes) installed. painter didnt know much about harleys but said he could at least get them on for me but maybe not adjusted and thats what he did. anyway i searched on this first and found the procedure on collapsing the cable then removing the primary cover and adjusting in there. did that and it helped a lot i can now actually get the clutch to engage but im adjusted all the way out just barely holding on by a thread literally, how can i get it further adjusted to remove the slack ?

Make sure it is routed correctly. When I switched bars and clutch cable, I had the same kind of thing. Rerouted it the way it should be. Problem area was down at the bottom of the frame.

Do you have a manual? That's where I read and reread. Could also take a look at another bike if u got one in the neighborhood.

Call Barnett cables, they have a 1/2" spacer just for that problem....tell them you heard about it on the HDForum.....
This is what it looks like:

Find the email at the bottom of their webpage and send em a copy of this pic.

The spacer goes between the top cable and the adjustment turnscrew thingy.....It pulls up the slack if too long a cable was installed which is what I think happened but don't know for sure without knowing more details than I have. One thing I know for sure, when the cable was ordered it needs to have 3 1/2" adjustment slack. If you do know what they sent your or what you ordered you probably have too much cable and this is what another member used when Barnett sent him the wrong length cable. I will try to find that thread and if I find it I will be back or maybe PM you.
