Default Oil in Airline?

I tried to check the air in my suspension today and both fittings were filled with oil. I wouldn't think this is normal. Is it?

Rear seemed to have 15 psi and front had 10 psi. How can this be correct if i'm measuring oil? I haven't had this bike very long and still trying to figure it all out. I feel like the handling is very sloppy, but then again my most recent ride was a hardtailed Sporty.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

2001 EGC, 64K miles.

If you have a suspension air pump it will have a no loss valve. The pump should have an air release button and the manufacturer will more than likely recomend pumping a little air in before you let any out to clear oil from the lines. It really is worth getting the proper pump.

Good Luck

Maybe I worded this wrong.

Is it normal to have oil in the air line?

yes, the oil and air are in the same cavity.

Sorry maybe I left out a few words but this quote means it is normal. HD instructions say this, don't know about other pump manufacturers.

"manufacturer will more than likely recomend pumping a little air in before you let any out to clear oil from the lines".

If you keep letting oil out it may result in low oil.

YES. Also the manual says that oil will be in the air line and before you release air from shocks you should pump in air with shock pump to push the oil back into he shocks. Then release the amount of air unil you reach you desired pressure.

Thanks, I was worried I needed new seals up front and/or new rear shocks. I'm still getting used to the fact that this bike handles like its on ice.

New question, how does the system keep the same amount of oil in each fork if random oil is coming up the air line? Or is it such a minimum amount that there is no issue?

The bike should not handle "like it's on ice". Provide more details please.

My shocks had quite a bit of difference in the oil level I took out of each side. I bought my bike with 34K miles. At 36K I was changing the oil.
