Default 2012 Touring MPH vs RPM

New FLHR, trying to get true information for 6th gear MPH to RPM. Been bunch of discussion regarding ''lugging'', most agree 2500-3k is the sweet spot. Well what RPM am I running when I am running 65 in 6th gear, as well as 60.

To my highly trained ears(funny) I sound near 2500 rpm around 62-65mph. I wanna know real 2012 numbers please as I am sure there has been gear changes whether it be final drive or tranny.

Please post your readings, and thanks

Trust me, stay away from 6th gear if you cannot sustain 65 mph or preferably 70 or higher. If you don't have a tach, then what does it matter what our rpms are? Not saying your ears are not "trained", but if you don't have the gauge, then you don't have the gauge.

At 80 mph Im at 3000, pretty happy with the stock gearing on my bike. By the way, I use 6th gear all the time, and even find myself reaching for another gear every once in awhile.

cruising at 60 mph use 5th gear
cruising at 65 is minimum for 6th gear, usually 70 mph

My 2010 Street Glide runs 3000 rpms at 80 mph, 2500 @ 70, and I don't know what at 60mph, because I'm never in 6th gear at that slow of a speed...but I'd guess somewhere around 21-2200 rpms.

Thats why I am asking what your RPMs are...because I don't have a tach, duh! If I had a tach I could answer my own question.

I don't want to tear my motor up. Broke it in right the mountains not using 6th, but now back home after doing my 1K service I was using 6th in 60-65 on flat land seemed to have plenty of rpms was thinking the newer models had lower gearing as it sounded like I was taching more than what my 07' FLHX did at those speeds.

Is the gearing the same on 2010 to 2012 models? Trans and Pulley's?

I made my trip back from the Mountains @70 in 6th, my motor felt and sounded like it was taching more than 2500, I mean she really felt spooled up.

My 07 does 70 @ 2500 in 6th. 70 in 5th close to 3 grand (this is where I grab 6th). Got lots of pix of my dash while grabbin shots of the boyz on various trips.
