Apparently my bike is different than everyone elses. I routinely cruise in 6th gear around 60 mph at just over 2000 rpm and it does just fine. Sometimes I go even slower...
If I need to accelerate, I twist the throttle and it accelerates. If I need to accelerate faster I downshift.
Me too. That's what the book says and it runs just fine that way.
whats hard to understand? when i am in 5th gear doing 60mph, my tach reads between 2700rpm and 2800 rpm. when i am in 6th gear, doing 70mph, my tach reads between about the same, maybe just a tad lower

Sorry, I must have misread your post. It didn't 'click' umtil I read it several times. (I guess my brain has overheated from the unseasonably high temps we're experiencing here in the Midwest)
actually, the gearing is the same on my 2010 as it is on my wife's 2012, so i would assume 2011 is the same also.
i can tell you that at 60mph in 5th, i am running just under 2800. 70mph in 6th is also just under 2800
Same here with a 103 motor. I usually don't kick it into 6th unless I decide to cruise at 70 or more. I had a 96 RK prior and when shifting by ear I felt it the same rpms at around the 70 mph mark.

Well, I have an 09 103 6speed....and was thinking the same as the above post....I routinely cruise at 50 to 60 mph in 6th gear. Probably 2000rpm+.
If I am in 5th, I cruise at 2000rpm too.....
