That was the whole point of my post....you don't have the damn tach so why do you care? If you don't have the proper gauge to measure the rpms, and you dont, then you should direct your focus on a minimum speed before shifting into 6th. You do have a speedometer don't you? Wow.

Wild card, my '06 five speed has a final gear ratio of 3.150. At 60 mph, specs say it's running 2500, and at 65, it's at 2700.

Your '12 has a final drive ratio of 2.876 in six, so your rpms are going to be lower than than the figures above.

The final gear ratio on the sixth speed has been the same from 2009-present at 2.876.

The final gear ratio on the 2007 - 2008 is 2.790.

Why do I care, cause without a tach I have no idea what the minimum running speed is for 6th gear. Therefore I asked for you fellas to tell me what rpm I am running at what speed in 6th, then I will know I am safe running 6th @65mph or not.

How can I direct my focus on a minimum speed to run 6th in if I have know idea what I am taching? The owners manual for my '12 FLHR say's nothing about upshift speed's it only stated downshift from 6th to 5th @50mph, I know thats way to slow to run 6th gear.

It was a pretty simple question or topic to discus

Touring bikes from 2009 up all have the same transmissions and ratios I believe.

you might want to check this out, i have one and it works great, i use it for all kinds of stuff to check RPM, comes in handy for carb bikes and those with no tach. it an easy on off, with a 6ft cord. http://tinytach.com/gasoline.php#

Apparently my bike is different than everyone elses. I routinely cruise in 6th gear around 60 mph at just over 2000 rpm and it does just fine. Sometimes I go even slower...
If I need to accelerate, I twist the throttle and it accelerates. If I need to accelerate faster I downshift.

I think we miss the weight factor these threads...I only weigh 160 pounds so my bike doesn't seem to lug as bad at slower speed as some say theirs does...
