Headlight/Fuse/Electrical issue...help.
So, right now I have so many issues going on with my bike, I don't know where to start. That's why I like this forum...throw the issue out there and hear some recommendations and personal experiences!!!
Anyway, the other night I started the bike and the headlight was out. The next day I saw the fuse was blown (which I figured because both low/hi beam were out). I was able to spend just a few minutes trying to track in down the other night. I found out the fuse does not blow without the headlight plugged in, but will blow if I hit the hi beam switch (w/o headlight plugged in). I plug the headlight back in and turn on ignition and fuse blows.
I have apes and my fear is that one of my soldering jobs on a wire must have rubbed through. But, each wire is heat shrink wrapped (at the soldered portion) and then the whole bundle of wires is in heat shrink wrapped. I'd hate to pull the bars off and wires out to find out it was something else.
I will look at it some more tonight, but was looking for some more ideas. Any help, ideas or experiences? Thanks!

soldered wire connections do not do well on a bike
the vibrations will tend to break the wires right were the tinning ends, at the insulation.
and /or sharp bits of solder can wear through shrink wrap and short out on the bars or other ground.
I solder for a living and learned long ago not to solder on the bike
but first, check the condition of the headlight connector

FWIW, check the wiring leading from the headlight up into the fairing. I found mine rubbing on the bracket next to the radio, on the underside of the wire bundle, by moving wire bundles around while the headlight was on. Would never have found it if it hadn't sparked and popped the fuse when I did that.
