Default Fast Aire Windshields

I ordered a 6" dark smoke windshield from Fast Aire. The price was reasonable at $37 shipped. It arrived as a flat piece of plastic with protective tape on both sides. It has to be bent to fit into the batwing. Fast Aire has all kinds of warnings in their instructions saying that if you install it wrong it can crack.

I followed their instructions to the tee, and I'm pretty adept at mechanical things. The windshield went in without cracking, and I thought all was well. Two days later it cracked from the center bolt right up the middle. Now I have two little Fast Aire 6" windshields.

The moral of the story is you get what you pay for. They obviously have a lot of issues with their flat shields cracking or they wouldn't go out of their way to print all of the warnings. I installed mine exactly as they instructed, and it still cracked. Lesson learned.

A windshield for a Harley touringbike should be pre-formed with the bend of the fairing in it, otherwise there is too much stress on the shield as it bends. At least that appears to be the case here.

Disappointed.

You need to call and give Fast Aire a chance first before public post.

Not sure why I can't post that I think someone is selling product that is cheap and breaks. I don't want another windshield from them. I just posted what my experience was. Others may love them.

I have had my 8" smoked Fast Aire on my 2008 Street Glide for over three years and 36 thousand miles. No cracks, no problems. Renoglide on here is the owner. Maybe you should contact him before trashing them on the forum. I bet he will make it good or give you your money back.

I'm not worried about $37, and I don't want another copy of the same windshield. I posted my experience. Others, like you, have had positive experiences. If that's what you call "trashing" then so be it. He may be a great guy with great customer service. I was referring to the product itself, which I wasn't happy with.

I really hope everyone who posts they're not happy with the quality of a product on this forum doesn't have to justify themselves like this. We should be looking out for one another. One person's bad experience may not mean much, but we can't have multiple people complaining about something until someone does it first.

I would only use lexan, if it cracked it is probably plexiglass, if you get in a wreck and it breaks a piece could do real damage to you. We are only allowed to use lexan in the race car I have because of that. Lexan can't and won't crack

They're Polycarbonate (Lexan.)

If it were real polycarbonate it would not crack, I have taken a piece of it and bent it in half, there is no way it should crack if it were the real thing.
