Default Damn it, Tonight it was my turn!`

Running to grab dinner after working in the yard today & my bike introduced itself to the rear of a Toyota Prius. Just yesterday I was praising the likes of the ABS brakes & I sure as hell wish my 08 had them.
I had just went into 2nd gear & was accelerating when all of a sudden the Prius in front of me came to an abrupt stop. Both brakes on hard, kept it up & right before impact I dove off the right side of my bike. I've got a little road rash on the right arm, right elbow, & my right knee & one really sore ***. Not sure what that's all about but anyhow escaped some real pain I'm sure. I'm glad my helmet took the brunt of the impact because it's pretty scraped up.
Probably gonna hop in the shower & head to the ER cause my *** is really friggin hurtin. Oh well it could be worse.

The bike didn't fair to bad but is gonna need a little love. The front fender is toast. The right side foot-board is toast, the right side bag lid is gonna need some paint as it popped open. Didn't see much else but am so sore I just came in the house. I'll call the insurance in the morning & let them handle it.
Ride safe fellas. I think I just joined the crew of "those that have" from the "those that haven't".....Yet!

So what the hell did the Prius driver stop for,did you ever find out? I think a trip to ER to get checked out is a smart decision.

Apparently the car in front of him stopped. Just got back from the ER. Apparently I ruptured a disc in my back & was diagnosed with sciatica? The disc is bulging out of my spine & pushing against my spinal cord & my sciatic nerve causing a severe pain in my left *** cheek. I can't bear any weight on my left leg what so ever. I guess it's fairly common so I'm sure others on the board know about what I speak. Muscle relaxers & time is about all that can be done. Huge pain in the *** no pun intended!
Anyhow, I took a couple of pics with my phone before I came in the house. I really dodged a bullet today because it could have been much, much worse but it still sucks!!

You are alive to tell about it and the damage to the bike does not seem that bad. Sciatica, however, can be a ****. All my best for a speedy recovery. Take care,

just glad it wasn't worse and you will be OK.

While you are healing, you can decide what upgrades to do as you repair the bike.

What difference does that make? I have heard that question after fender benders and don't get it. The car stopped. The person behind has the responsibility of being far enough behind, and in control enough of their vehicle, to stop before hitting said car. Doesn't matter whether they are an animal lover that stopped to let a ducking across the road, or because a child was following a bouncing ball.

Glad OP didn't get hurt worse - hoping for a speedy recovery for you!

Glad you're not hurt too bad. Following too close? Taking your eyes off of the vehicle in front of you for 'just a second'? We've all done it. Thanks for the reminder of how dangerous that can be. Get well soon. Good luck with the bike repairs too.
