Default PTT switch in the wrong place

So every year when my buddies and I get together to go on our 2000 mile ride to nowhere, I swear I'm gonna do something with that damn switch. Its the only time I use the CB so I don't think about it till we're on the road again. This time I swore I'd do something about it. Came up with this. Actually this ones just a prototype. The next one will be stainless and painted black just to look better. Its not like I'm gonna leave it on the bike. Only put it on when its needed. Does seem to work better. Don't have to reach for the switch.
Anyone else have issues with its placement?

I use my radio volume more than you do.

If it makes it easier for you, great...but isn't your thumb sill right over the PTT button?
I do wish the PTT was simular to the Goldwing button, you use your index finger to activate the button, much easier...like a trigger ....It's located in front of the grip

No, my thumb is over the volume button. Where the PTT button should be IMO. Does seem easier to get to. I'll have to leave it on for a ride with heavy gloves to see if there's any down side to where it is now.
Heres a pic on the stainless one I painted up. Can hardly see it.

I have larger than average hands and still think it's a bitch to hit the PTT button. I've been wondering how to solve this problem myself. I use the cb in group rides all of the time. It really adds to the ride and I enjoy the occasional bullshitting with the other guys as we ride down the road. I wouldn't want to go on a long ride without some kind of communication device between bikes, but that's just me.

I have thought about going inside the housing and tapping off of the PTT wires and coming out the back of the housing with a momentary switch, but just have not got around to it yet. Most of the time I just stretch my thumb a little and move on. But it's still on the "list" of stuff to consider.

I noticed you have a mic hanger. Guess you use a hand mic when not wearing a helmet with your headset installed? I have several headsets, some from HD and some from J&M. I am in the process of building some custom noise cancelling hand mics for our group rides. Guys usually enjoy using the cb once they get a mic in their hands. It's no more dangerous than managing a cup holder or a gps unit. Hell, they all have a certain element of distraction, but what's new.

Good luck with your prototype.

When its very hot or we're just bouncing around from pub to pub I use a half helmet. TTTT I carry a hand mic all day at work pinned to my shirt. I find myself wanting to pin the hand mic to my vest. It would be alot easier (and safer) to just reach up and key the mic on my vest then unhooking it from the hanger and bring it up to my mouth. By then the moment's lost.
Maybe thats something else to think about making...next...
