Guess I'm just used to having a toe-shifter. I gave myself time to get used to a heel shifter, but ended up taking it off. I did move the toe shifter out to where the heel shifter was. This works Much better for me.

It will make a nice spare, the front and rear are the same (part number)

I put one of these on, use it when I'm on a long highway run sometimes. To me, best of both worlds.

I bought two of the extended shifters of eBay for the glide to make more foot room.

When I bought my Fatboy I hated the heel shifter. took it off and tried the cheap cover. Poked me in the foot and annoyed me, so I cut the shaft back to the toe shifter and havent thought twice about it.

Maybe a Gremlin hopped up out of a pothole and loosened it .
You do have a bell, right?

I had the left passenger peg and mount fall off my 2011 FLHX with only 110 miles on the clock. It wouldn't have been so bad, but my wife was on the back at the time. Took it to the dealer the following Saturday and they stole the assembly off of one on the showroom. The bolt was crossthreaded from the factory. I've had that and a fairing bolt fall out on this one, and a heatshield bolt fall out on my previous Vrod which I bought new. Also the hand controls were loose on that bike. I guess it's just the way it is with Harleys. That's why I get my 1000 mile done at the dealer and then do my own service.

As much as I try, I can't get used to the heel shifter, but like you, I would keep the piece if I took it off. I replaced mine with the one with the pivoting heel shift peg so I could just pivot it out of the way. Didn't like the look of the caps they make to replace the shifter. Kept my old one for whenever (or if ever) I sell the bike.

To those who have removed the heel shifter....did you have more fore aft movement (vibration) because the weight of the heel shifter wasn't there to 'balance' the assembly?? I noticed this on mine, especially sitting at a light.

I have not used the heel shifter but once. A week or so ago, I went to downshift and my toe shifter just dropped all the way to the floorboard. I had to use the heal shifter to get home.

Once home I use Locktite on the shifter bolt for the toe shifter. I had considered removing the heel shifter until that night
