Default Easy Install Accent Lights.... I Must be a Idiot..

Bought the Engine Kit and the Road Coverage Kit from Joe Florida ..... Took a couple of days to get familiar with the instructions and to figure out how I wanted to do this .... I mean this stuff is so easy a chimp could do it.... Attached all the lights... ran wires towards seat.... wire tied everything down... all red wires went to a connector box...from there to a on/off/ switch .. to a inline 3 amp fuse ... to the positive of the battery.... ... all black wires went to a connector box... then to the negative of the battery.... i used one on/off switch and one inline fuse for both kits...... used electrical tape at most connections .... ... took me all afternoon .... turn it on and lights flash and the little pissy *** 3 amp fuse blows .... same thing on the next two 3 amp fuses i had.... emailed and left a message with Joe.... but dont expect to hear back till Monday .... when im at work ..... I just knew this would turn into a pain.... Any thoughts ... besides the one im having of just ripping lights off the bike and burning them....

I've installed 2 sets of the Joe Florida lights for my customers and in both cases, the 3 amp fuse blew. I changed them to a 5 amp fuse and they have had no more problems.

Ohm across the ends of the positive and negative wires (disconnected from the battery) double check that they do not "0" out. If it doesn't there is no shorts. Change fuse to 5 amp and proceed.

Thanks .... i will buy some 5 amp fuses in the morning .... his instructions say never to use anything bigger than a 3 amp fuse ... but if your running 5 amps it must not be hurting anything.... i will do the "check" also.... Vickers1 ... was your 3 amps blowing right away like mine ....

Both customers left with lights working. Their fuses blew within 1 day and came back. It wasn't immediate and if yours is, I would recheck my wiring. You don't want to use a bigger fuse if you have a dead short.

I think Joe Florida has miscalculated the amperage draw of his lights by a couple of amps or so.
