Gas Mileage

34 to 37 mpg... Thats it no more. Maybe I will get more as the motor breaks in. I am not holding my breathe for it. I could back the tune down a little and I could get off of the throttle but it wont happen. I just gave up on it. I really think gas around hear is crap, and full of ethanol but I can not fix that problem.

it seemed to me that when i hit 4k to 5k miles on my 08 streetglide, the mileage improved, the motor seemed to run smoother, and noticeably cooler. i believe it's that all the mating surfaces, bearings, etc, are getting smoothed out from being fully broken in. sorta like all the parts decide to work with each other. sorta like rodney dangerfiels's quote when he said, "can't we all just get along"? i know it was rodney king, but it's a lot funnier with dangerfield's twist on it.

I average around 40-42 riding in MN or WI under similar conditions on my 11 Limited with Fuel Moto exhaust and intake.
While recently out in Colorado I saw 53 mpg while riding in the mountains but also had a headwind day in South Dakota where we got 36 mpg. I don't think yours is all that far off as I got similar mileage stock for the first couple thousand miles.

I have a 2012 Ultra Classic, completely stock with about 2000 miles on it. I generally accellerate to about 2900 - 3000 RPM before shifting to the next gear. I've been consistantly seeing 37 -38 MPG running mostly 5th gear at 60 MPH at around 2700 - 2800 RPM. Is that about right or does that seem a touch low?
It seems like it should be a bit higher but I guess I'd like to ask the experts. Will the mileage increase as the bike 'breaks in' more or should I be looking at another cause? Maybe it's right about where it should be... Not sure. Thoughts/feelings? Thanks.

My '12 RGU got 42 mpg on the highway cruising 65-70 with 2/300 miles on it. At 2000 miles I consistently get 44 mpg highway, 41-42 on two lane roads with down shifting, and 32-33 urban driving. I will add that it is unmodified aside from a set of Von Braun slip-on mufflers.
There probably isn't anything wrong with the bike, especially since you didn't mention and driveability issues or a check engine light.

The "shark-nosed" machines seem to do better than the others. For those posting mileage differences between E10 and pure gas, that looks like the same 10% loss on corn that I see with my cages also. Until E10 is discounted 10% from the price of pure gas, it is less expensive to run straight gas.
