Default SE heavy Breather vs Other AC

i already have a stock style k and n a/c for my 09 rk, been looking at the s/e heavy breather and i like the look but heard that you might loose hp or gain very little because of the bend in the pipe. what a/c will be the best bang for my buck and good for performance? i was also looking at the stage 1 arlen ness big sucker stage 1 kit.

Do a search in this section, there was a multi page thread on this same question. i run the heavy breather over others because it looks better

Like you said, the Ness big sucker is your best bang for the buck. The SE heavy breather will perform about the same, just give you a different look.

just about every after market air cleaner will flow more than the motor could ever demand. ( the hype-charger is one exception)

i use the ness big sucker, about $120 from easternpc on ebay, that's the chrome version

i like the stock 'football" cover the leg room works for me- and it hides the ugly servo connector at 7 o'clock on the throttle body

I don't much care about "looks" if it takes $ out of my pocket.

every $ I save gets me that much closer to another bike in the garage

FuelMoto posted some time back that in their testing once the A/C is opened up by a free flowing SE type filter the heavy breather does not gain anything so at that point its just personal preference.

Thanks for the input, thinking about getting the Arlen mess because of the price and if I can find a good derby cap that I like... Anyone have any problems in the rain or leg room with either of them?

Read up about the oil drip from the head breathers on the ANs, unless you can get the older style where the vents dump inside the TB.

That happens on the efi bikes as well? What's the difference between the regular arlen filters and steel jacketed filters ? Any benefits?

Here is another alternative to the Big Suckers...it is around the same price and will perform BETTER because it is not dumping hot oily air back into the intake.

Also, they use interchangeable covers so you can change up the look inexpensively.
