Default Mounting a 2012 SG Wheel on 2009 SG

Hi folks,

We have a 2009 FLHX with ABS and chrome spoked wheels. My preference has always been for mag wheels, so I could plug a flat tire, rather than have to deal with tubes. But we bought the bike used for an excellent price and I figured I'd just swap out the wheels later.

I found a front OEM mag wheel from a 2012 Street Glide. The 2012 SG's have a 130/80B18 front tire, while our 2009 has 130/80-17.

Will this model wheel fit on my '09? If it will fit, will there be bad handling differences, or speedo/odometer errors?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

It wil not affect your speedometer at all and if the '12 wheel has abs, it'll be a direct swap.

Yup, this. ABS and NonABS have different bearings for the ABS spacer side.

If its not an ABS wheel, the bearings are about $25, if I recall correctly.

Both the wheel I'm looking at my existing wheel have the ABS bearings, so that should be okay without having to change bearings.

I just wish this was a pair of wheels I found for sale and not just the front! Would rather have a set, but might be able to get this one for a good price.

I went from a 130-80-17 to an agitator 130-70-18 and felt no difference at all in handling. You'll be ok

I'd keep looking, pairs of newer wheels show up all the time on Craigslist around here, but I rarely if ever see just the rear by itself.

That's a smart thing to consider -- I had not thought of that. Thanks for mentioning. You probably saved me a headache! As it turns out, I just got a PM from another forum member who might have a pair of rims for sale! Hope this works out for both of us.

Thanks again to everyone who helped.
