Harleys: Dime a Dozen

Harleys: Dime a Dozen
I just saw a 2008 FLHX anniversary edition with only 6000 miles for 14K...and financing available for the other guy.
I see deals like this every day yet some douches still think HDs appreciate and someone will somehow pay more because you chromed it out. My custom paint job ain't worth a penny more than a factory 08 Street Glide. Sorry, just thinking out loud.
With today's economy it's a buyers market in almost any area of consumerism. I'd love to be back in the states to get my hands on someone's Basstracker!

I give no thought to what my bike is worth at all. I plan to ride it to death basically. It's been supremely reliable and I have it set up just how I want it, with no concern for it's value or resale. I intend to ride it and maintain it and repair it here and there along the way until it's just utterly not feasible to fix anymore (and who on earth knows what/when that will be). It will mostly likely be up into the 100's of thousands of miles with how I ride. By next summer at this time in fact it will have broken the 100k mark.
Ride and enjoy, that's what they're for. If you want an investment buy gold.

If you buy ANY Harley as an investment, you're only fooling yourself. Appreciate in value? I don't think so! The only appreciation I've ever received from any bike was the ability to climb aboard and go for a ride. There will always be exceptions to the rules. Someone will find one of those "born every minute" people and buffalo them into thinking that they are about to buy a special bike. Though there are the few odd exceptions out there I have always thought of my investment in a bike as an investment on how I want to live. In the end I wanna slide in sideways screaming "holy ****, what a ride!" Investment no - Testament Hell Yeah!

Never really looked at any bike I've owned as an investment...
And yeah prices are down, I got my Deuce w/3k miles fer half price.
Sept I made up fer the savings by changing everything & paint & parts.
So I got a like new HD, the way i want it, for not too crazy money!
I was lookin' at a sporty the other day (2004) tricked out to the max, (older tricked out) and the guy wanted $10k. in this economy...? I was surprised, sure, he said he had $20k in it... (200mm tire done right, new swingarm... but most upgrades were a while ago (6 yrs.), and i think 10k can get me alot more nowadays!
And YES! Every now & then yu run into a seller that thinks he's got the Cats ***!
