Has anyone purchased a Storage Shed from Home Depot or any other prefab company and can give some advice on which model, dimensions etc. Any info would help. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking metal shed or wooden? I erected a metal shed from Searson a concrete slab and it did nothing but sweat inside with just a few degrees of temperature change outside. In winter there would be as much snow inside as outside from all thejoints thathad gaps and openings. After only a few years it was rusty both inside and out. A few years later it colapsed under the weight of about 4 feet of snow. End of shed.................BG

Size depends on what you're going to put in it.[sm=bangbang.gif]

I looked at them 2 years ago. They really seemed like garbage to me. I am no carpenter, but they were not built very well at all. I opted out for having some Omish people build me a 10X10 shed that cost me $1,100.00. I only wish I had gone with a 10X16 now.

Firstfigure out what size and then have the appropriate slab poured. then set up a Bros ride. kinda back to the ole "barn Raising days". A couple hoursride ending in some work, food, and drink, is an amazing thing. and it's contagious

Lowes carries a Black And Decker Composite plastic shed that is about 6x8 and it goes for about $400.00. Can be put together by two people in about 30 minutes.I have two at work and they so far to be worth their price. Good for basic storage, not too great as for secured storage.

I built a 16' X 30' shop with concrete floor for my bike. It cost about $5000, 10 years ago. Although there is other stuff in the shop, the bike is the only thing that is permanent in there. As far as Home Depot sheds,I have looked at them, the ones I saw, were fair. I would order at least 2X6 floor joists, heavy duty flooring, 16" centered studs, pre-wired for lights and plugs. And get one bigger than what you think you will need.

I have been looking at Lowes, they (the company that has thier building being sold by Lowes)will come out and contruct the building on your site for a decent price, stick built, 2x6 floor joices, I am looking at a 16x32 building. I think the cost is around $4000. And I am checking out a local deal they will build a 24x24 with 2-8' garage doors for right around $5000 and that included concrete flooring. I'll probably go with the 24x24 myself.

I agree that you should be concerned about condensation inside the metal and plastic sheds. I buillt a wooden shed about 15 years ago on a wooden floor. Floor frame was 2x6 on 16" centers with 3/4 tongue and groove plywood. I set it on 12 concrete feet made for decks. When I put the roof on I left the soffits open so air could circulate and have never had snow blow in. Other than painting the shed every 3 years I have done nothing in repairs and it looks as good today as when it was built.

Also, built my own - 28X32. 20X28 for the shop and 12X28 for the lawn equipment. Very easy to build your own - just need to know how to use a saw and hammer. Couple buds would help. I also looked at the sheds at Lowe's - did not seem that bad.
