Default GPS recommendations

I have a 2011 FLHTK & am looking for a GPS unit for it. Any recommendations? Regular GPS & mounts or Garmin Zumo motorcycle units & which one & why. I really appreciate any input. Thanks, Scott

If money is not a concern I'd go with a Garmin Zumo 665.
1. It's the latest model
2. designed for motorcycles and the motorcycle inviroment
3. has mp3, satellite radio capabilities
4. MC glove friendly
5. Touch screen
6. Comes with both MC mount and Vehicle mount...versatile
7. Garmin has great customer service....

I have two Garmins and would not have anything else.

I second that..... Garmin is the way to go. You can get the Road Tech 665 from Harley made by Garmin, same as Garmin 665, 660 if you don't need XM radio.

I'm sure I will get all kinds of grief for this but... I use MotionX on my iPhone. Yes it's not weather proof. Yes it's not glove friendly. But if you have an iPhone, it very inexpensive and it works well. I use my iPhone for several different functions on my SG. MotionX for GPS. GaugeFace for engine temp, AFRs, TPS and more. Trip Journal for documenting trips I take and of course music. I just finished a 600 mile trip in the mountains over the weekend using it. I love it.

I have a Garmin 660 and the difference between it and the 665 is XM Radio and XM Weather Mapping and $150 more for the 665. Other than that, they are identical. There is also a newer Zumo 350 I think is the number which I know nothing about.

I like the Zumo because you can program in both your cell phone and directions to a headset. The Zumos are the only GPS units I've found that you can program both to a headset which is handy to hear instructions.

For now I'm running a Garmin Nuvi 1450 on a RAM mount. It's not waterproof (it never rains in California) but for my needs not a big deal for the time being. The screen is big and easy to see and it was around $200 for everything with the mount, wiring, etc.

Some day I would love to go with the Zumo 665 of course, but for now this gets the job done. I only have it on the bike when I'm on a road trip or going someplace that I'm unfamiliar with. The Zumo 665 is the ultimate from what I've heard though, but wow the price is steep.

I'm with Arizona on this one....The price on the 660/655 is more than I want to spend on a gps right now. I use a Garmin Nuvi 1200 and got a very small power adapter for the fairing cigarette lighter(won't hit the tank when turning full lock to the left) and a completely removable handlebar mount both from ebay. I wanted to be able to install and remove my complete gps setup in seconds. No, it is not water proof, but a ziploc bag and a rubberband will take care of that. Also, I don't care to hear the directions while I'm riding, so this setup works for great for me until I decide to take the leap and get the 660! The total cost of my setup including the GPS is about $120. You can find the Garmin Nuvi 1200 at most truckstops for around $89. I also like it for its size. It is smaller than most gps' and doesn't block my guages etc. Just my 2 cents....hope this helps.

Here is a link to the mount I bought:

Here is the power adapter I use:

I put the Garmin app on my iPhone, $49, it does a really great job. You can play your music, get phone calls, emails etc. It does need to be hooked up to power source, it can really eat the battery. I have a Garmin Nuvi 260 that did okay, but rarely use it now.
