Default Street glide rides like a caddy

Three things I know.
1) stock air shocks in 2009 are crap

2) I spent $600 bucks on progressive 440's

3)the 440s stopped the hyper extending and the bottoming out BUT.......

The bike rides like a German car rather than a caddy.......

WHO has aftermarket shocks on their 2009 FLHX and swears they ride like a caddy? No bullish@&'ing.

Because I spent 600 bucks in 09 I wasn't about to change shocks again but now I'm thinking about it.....what ya running , how they feel, how much?

Everyone seems to love Ohlins. I don't have them, but I'm sure others will chime in.

I get the Cadillac ride* when touring on my 09 FLHTC with the stock air shocks.

i know others find a good or better ride with premium shocks, but the stock HD air shocks have worked for me on multiple touring bikes.

i know I'm wrong- but the ride and money on the wallet feel so right.

...and I use the 09+ SG shocks in town ( yes I swap back and forth, it takes no more than 30 minutes)

The key is always the air pressure to keep the shocks from bottoming or topping out

mike

* which I describe as 'soft and floaty", that is the ride i need for long days in the saddle touring. my point of reference are my 3 x 1966 Cadillacs (SDV, CDV,DV) and my '72 Eldo conv. ( which also has air shocks/ self leveling)

I wish that was the case for me but it wasn't. Swear it didn't matter what pressure I tried I would bottom out and or hyper extend (bang) over moderate bumps. I tried playing with them for the first 6 months but no dice...

Progressives fixed both problems but she's a pretty stiff ride at the softest setting. I'm about 235 240 lbs.....usually...lol..

I picked up a used set of Progressive 940's for $312.50. For the price it's a nice shock over stock. The HD spring was swapped for 90/130 set of springs. I'm 230lbs and bike rides nice. I'm sure Ohlins may be better but for $312.50 not a bad ride.

I have Ohlins and would not describe the ride as "Riding like a Caddy" more like a performance sedan.
