At least I am not the only one that thought this paint was soft. I think the clear coat is also soft but maybe its me. Good info on the touch up kit....

Almost all factory paints are a two step process with the base coat being your primary color and your top coat being powder has your color(Blue Pearl and metallic)in the top coat this process was developed by Mercedes and BMW and than used by the big three in the USA the base coat is a water soluble paint with powder layed over top.

Default It's the right colors

Did the same thing. The counter guys didn't know either. Took the touch up paint back and they sold me the same thing. I took it home and tested the two colors. First a brush of vivid black. On a piece of paper. Then the big pearl blue that looks absolutely clear. It's like magic.

I have the same bike. I sent my touch up back. The new one came back same thing Vivid Black & clear. It's the right kit, try on some thing small first. The clear coat got the stuff in it. It's hard to do too. I cut a paper book match on an angle. Like to hear how other guys do it. Tooth pick maybe.

I have a 2012 Fatboy lo big blue pearl. The base coat is vivid black the clear has pigments in it and with no explanation when sprayed onto the void black it turns to blue. Amazing. It works.

My RK is BBP and VB; the kit is correct, base of vivid black then covered with BBP.
I used a matchstick cut at a long thin angle and basically thin smeared the BBP into the chip over the VB basecoat.....you can't even see where the chip was.
