Default Debating between slip-on mufflers: db ratings.

I am debating between three sets of slip on mufflers for my 2012 FLHTP. I have only had the chance to hear one in person (V&H) so I have no idea how the other two compare. I was wondering if anyone could rank these three in order from loudest to quietest, having actually heard them.

Vance and Hines 4" twin slash round mufflers
Rineharts 4" mufflers
Fuelmoto Jackpot 4" dyno tuned slashed mufflers

Thanks for the help.

That surprises me that the 4" Rineharts would be quieter than the V&H twin slash.

Thanks!

Here is what FM provides. I expect other brands would have a db rating available.

Here is some information on some recent dB tested we have performed for our Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers along with the optional Jackpot Competiton baffles and Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle. These tests were performed using SAEJ2825 test procedures using a JTW digital sound meter. The test bike was a 2009 Touring model with stock headpipes and Stage 1 air cleaner.

Stock mufflers IDLE 78.4 dB SET RPM 90.9 dB
Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle with Silent Insert in IDLE 81.9 dB SET RPM 91.7 dB
Jackpot Tunable Quiet baffle with Silent Insert out IDLE 83.6 dB SET RPM 92.5 dB
Jackpot Dyno Tuned baffles IDLE 83.6 dB SET RPM 93.9 dB
Jackpot Competition Baffles IDLE 89.3 dB SET RPM 100.3 dB
Jackpot Carbon Billet mufflers IDLE 84.5 dB SET RPM 97.8 dB

For Comparison:
Rinehart Slip on mufflers IDLE 84.6 dB SET RPM 98.9 dB
Rush slip on w/ 2.00 baffles IDLE 84.2 dB SET RPM 98.2 dB

Have you thought about V&H Monster Ovals? Lovely deep rumble without being obnoxious.

Wonder how a gutted cat stock header plays into the db senario, would that make a diff in the ratings outlined above or is that the db regardless?

Default More Sound

Tucci, I'm thinking increase in sound when catless.
I don't know regarding those slipons personally, but three sets I have tried both catted and catless, the sound was increased without the cat. JME.

sidebar:

the cat has to play a HUGE difference as evidenced by the 2010+ legal S/E nightstick with open end cap and 10 discs stock.

that pipe is not legal for catless bikes.

I use nightsticks ( with closed endcaps) on my 09, the open end caps and 1/2 the left side disks are dummies ( 16 disks rt, 8 left)

back to the original question:

Supertrap supermegs and the made for S/E nightstick and fatshots can be adjusted for about as quiet or loud as the rider wants.
