Default Stage II worth it???

Alright, I know I may start a firestorm here but I have been agonizing over this decision for a week and my HD Dealer is only running their special through the end of this month.

Any insight over the "seat of the pants" benefits of the Stage II over the Stage I? Not talking Dyno numbers here. Just looking for the "drivability" and benefits of the bigbore kits over stock Stage I.

I'm not rodding it, don't want to sacrifice MPG, and I'm not unhappy with the current performance. Just looking for a bit more torgue for the hills when touring heavy.

Looking at the 1550 conversion kit, EFI Race Tuner, new pushrods, flat pistons, then decide on the SE 203 cams or the 510G geared cams. Dealer special puts it installed at $2100 to $2500 depending on the cams.

I know what the improvement was with the Stage I over stock, (Huge, in my opinion) And if theBigbore Kit is that much again improvement, I would think it worth it. Any thoughts or opinions out there???

Thanks.

I bought an 05 Classic with the 95...I noticed a big difference in just the all around touring ride. Just crack the throttle and it responds.

I liked it enough that the 05 Dyna is getting it done and will be ready for spring....

If you ride two up it's worth it, IMHO. I'm doing my own right now.

I had mine done when it was new and I absolutely love it. I would recomend going with the geared cams. Find the right person to dyno and set up the SERT and you will be thrilled with the performance.

Just had the Harley 95 cu with 203 cams done on my 06 FLHT/I and I'm very happy with the seat of the pants improvement. Once broken in I plan on adding either a PC111 or a SERT .

Yes, it is worth it especially if you ride two up a lot. For the money you are going to spend, I would look into the 98" kit by GMR Performance: http://www.gmrperformance.com

Stage II, as defined as 95" and cams is a great move. Personally, I would not recommend the junk that the dealer is going to push on you. Do some research in the aftermarket, and find a performance option that fits your budget. You will pay less, and get more, than you would with the HD stuff. But yes, if you ride 2 up, it's BY FAR, the best money spent.....

If you think doing stage 1 to an 88" was a big improvement, doing the 95" stage 2 will be mind-blowing to you.

I agree, do some research and look into the aftermarket for cams and some headwork. The SE 95" pistons are fine, but have your stock cylinders bored out.....don't waste the money for new cylinders.

I have $1400 in parts for my 95" stage 3 build, and I did all the work myself.....add in another $300 for a dyno tune..............and it runs great.
