2008 Ultra, with NO engine mods, and just slip-on mufflers, has 50K on the clock. Temps running 240-260 on average in warm weather (mobil vtwin oil)
I have seen it as high as 280 on 2 occasions (outside temp was 95+ and heavy traffic moving slower than normal)

NO issues whatsoever, I change oil every 3000 and run the mobil in the crank, and primary, with redLine in the trans.

I am considering a fuel manegement system (more to increase fuel milage than anything else) but I don't feel an Oil Cooler is needed in Michigan. If I were riding in the desert, or where temps are near 100 most of the season..that would be a different story.

i notice mine being hot more this year than last year....weather? climate?
havent checked it with my temp gun yet bet i think im going to do the harley programmer. i like how it doesnt stay on the bike & the dyno guy says its a little better than the pc5 (but thats just his opinion). i also have the ext. warranty & harley said that if there is a problem & i have a pc5 its not covered.
im also going to do the cooler & put the oil temp gauge in the dash.
(but what ever you do dont let my wife know im doing this )

good luck with your situation

Difference between our bikes is that I got rid of stock pipes, got a tune, and I'm running Amsoil in the crankcase.
With your stock setup, you can expect high temps.
As others have said, switch over to a good synthetic, and when you get the cash, shitcan those stock pipes.
hmmm. I have a stock 2011 Police Road king (103 w/ oil cooler) 3,000 miles now with dino oil, running 230 highway riding in 90 degree. highest was 259 degrees after 15 minutes of full throttle, redline shifting, uphill riding it like a sportbike in 35-80 mph twisties. Doesn't seem like a "tune" different pipes or synthetic oil makes ANY difference to oil temp??

my 2011 Police Road King w/103 and cooler runs the exact same temps completely stock; I have seen many posts with the same numbers with bikes that are 'tuned'.
I can conclude that a richer AFR/ "tune" does NOT result in cooler oil temps. Head temps, ? maybe.....today when running 85- 90 mph in 90 degree weather I was at 240. Slower highway speeds at 230. Full throttle, with redline shifts for 15 minutes I was at 259.

These temps all say to me we need to be running a good synthetic oil to deal with the high Temperatures!!!
I reckon Syn 3 is as good as if not better than Mobil1! JMHO
Over here it is cheaper too!
