I ordered the Hayden M6 from J&P cycles and installed in on my 06 Road Glide. I could hear the chain slapping the primary case on downshifts. I opened the primary back up and found where the chain was hitting the case just above and behind the compensator clutch. I messed with the chain tensioner for a while, trying to get it set and aligned so the chain didn't have so much slack in it but could never get it to tighten up. I replaced the chain tensioner mount on the back wall of the primary case but that didn't help. I put the stock chain tensioner back in and all is quiet again. I sent the Hayden back to J&P and got a refund.

Thanks for your input. Wow, I am surprised you couldn't add enough shims to get the correct preload... the '06 RG had a manual adjuster from the factory, and I had read several satisfied customer reviews from various places concerning your particular Hayden model..
I am curious about those used to replace the later big twins that came with the factory HD auto tensioner...

The tensioner problem seems to be the root of other problems. Has any one heard of anybody grinding the teeth off the plates to allow it to float? If its too tight letting it float would keep it from locking up in the tight position. Any thoughts?
