UPDATE 6-2-2012 Broke down in Yellowstone "Need some advice"
On a trip with my son in Yellowstone. His 06 threw two codes. P0107 Map sensor fail and a p0374 Crank sensor. The bike started missing and we restarted it once went for a few 100 feet and died. Wouldn't restart. I pulled the crank position sensor and it looks like the surface is chewed up as the wires are showing. The bike is on a tow headed for Yellowstone HD in Belgrade MT. Any advice I would love to hear from the guys that know about what this may be. I am afraid that this may be a sizzored crank?

Doesn't sound good at all. My guess is they're going to have to split the case to fix. No way should the crank position sensor get damaged by the crank under normal operation - so yup - it probably is a damaged crank or inside cam bearing. Your motor is probably toast. Ouch- I just don't like saying those words . . .

Finally made it into Belgrade from Cody to meet up with my son who was with the bike. I will be at the dealer at 9 when they open and should know more soon. Not real happy that this is the second failure while on a trip. The 1st was when a lifter decided to seize and took out the cams, plate, oil pump etc a few years back while headed to Sturgis. I have been a H.D. guy since the early 90's. But having serious dependability questions right now!

They are tearing into it right now. They found that the rear cylinder has 60 psi and metal that was attached to the crank sensor was aluminum. Once the top end is off I will know more in a couple of hours. Preliminary thought is that the rear piston failed and may have took out the head and cylinder with it. The problem is that these HTCC parts are disc from H.D. and might have an issue finding them.
