Default Heavy Breather/forward facing intakes + rain

Looking to possibly replacing my SE Ventilator intake for a heavy breather or K&N type forward facing intake just to change things up a bit. I know my Ventilator was never an issue in rain (I do have a K&N filter installed) but wonder about the heavy breather type intakes? I had a Force on my Buell M2 10+ years ago but of course I also have CRS input or experiences? Thx ...

Generally these arent an issue even in hard rain - There is a rain sock for it - http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...geshoppingfeed

I had an open element breather on my bike and it was fine unless the rain was a downpour. A breather sock fixed that though. Maybe keep one handy and only install it when a heavy rain or very dusty conditions are present.
The bike in a downpour needed high revs or it wanted to stall.

Not a problem with a rain sock. I've ridden through rain that made everyone else pull over and not so much as a hickup from my bike.

I also carry the rain sock, but I've been in down pours and nailed it with the hose before without it. Have never had a problem.

+1 on the rain sock, went to Sturgis last year without one on my PM Gasser didnt hit any rain but the front of the filter was full of bugs and grime. I rotated the filter after 10 days or so. Now I have the SE snorkel with a rain sock. I noticed the locals in areas that see a lot of rain run rain socks all the time on their bikes.

Funny, I was just looking to see if anyone had problems with their heavy breather and not sure what mine is due to albeit a sportster. The other day i was in the rain and the bike was obviously sucking in some water. At one point when pulling out from a red light the bike shut off. Wouldn't restart until after the rain stopped. Then it was fine. This was in a downpour.

Not sure if it's electrical or intake related, but I'm thinking about going back to the ham can and seeing if that works better.
