Just get the SG then.

Me, I only use my detachable fairing about 25% of the time. I know others never take it off. But it sounds like you would be a better fit for the SG.

I do like the idea of the Road King and taking the fairing off, but honestly I would never take it off.
I had a Fat Boy with removeable windshield and bags but I never took either one off.

I traded my 03 RKC for an EG Ultra mostly for the fairing (wanted the gauges, stereo, etc.... As you can see I removed the tour pack to slim it down a bit. I thought about a fairing on the RKC but aftermarket vs stock... I still love the wind in my face and I am able to get that with changing out shields. I am 6' and put a LRS 9" on it fo rthe fall and winter, plenty of protection from the eliments for me. I switched out to a LRS 6" for the spring and summer and once again plenty of protection and it is the first time in years that I do not have a shield in my line of site. It is the best of both worlds. Head way up over the shield like there isn't one there but just enough to shoot the bugs and junk up over my head. No bufffetting issues at all with either the 9" or 6" shields.

He said it took him about 20 minutes to take his fairing off but he had the stereo. I doubt I would ever take the fairing off except for cleaning so wondering thoughts on that. If I could do it I would have a Road Glide but the money tree has not bloomed for quite some time.
Added a Memphis Shades batwing to my RK - very pleased. With the trigger lock system the fairing removes just as quickly as the OEM windshield. If interested in one you might try SS Custom Cycle, excellent pricing. Butch.

We have a road king with fairing, never take it off, other than to test fit windshields for stock road kings. If you're going to leave the faring on, might as well get the SG. Good luck!

I vote for the Road king. Later on you decide you want something
different, just remove the fairing.
