Default Shocks interchangeable

Will shocks from a Sportster or a Dyna fit to a Touring bike. I have been told that all Harley shocks have the same fitment but sometimes it may need a shim to get them to fit perfect.
On the Progressive site all the same style 12" shocks, each Harley model has a different part number.

Fit? Maybe. Work? Not likely. Touring bikes are a whole lot heavier than Dynas or Sporties. Expect if they do bolt up, you will find the limit of compression on the first bump you run across.
