Don't know how the bag could fall off if secured properly. Did you have it serviced recently where the bags were removed and reinstalled?

Saddlebag typically fall off because they were not attatched properly. Obviously there are two points of attatchment, for HD to be responsible they would both have to fail at the same time causing the bag to "fall off".

In 25 years I have not seen that happen, I have seen many owners not have them properly attatched. Unfortunately its a costly mistake, but it happens.

I don't think it's a Harley issue, and neither do you......Call Tuesday and order your new bag and fasteners.

+1 on the Brukus kit. I made sure that my pins were attached properly, but I ordered the Brukus kit just to be safe. There's also a thread on here on how to make your own kit that's the exact same but costs about $5 verses $25 for the Brukus kit.

Sorry to hear about your bags. When you get your replacement, an even easier and cheaper way to secure them is to buy two 5/16 x 1 1/4" button cap bolts, two wing nuts and two 1 1/4" washers (all in stainless steel) and replace the front push pins. No reason to change all four of them imo.

I know what you are saying my right side came off the first week I had it lucky enough to catch it and hold it. Both pins came loose and I never touched them it was my fault also.

Sorry to hear about the bag. One of the first mods I made to my X was the u nut and bolt. I went to Napa I think I paid about $7.00. My bags are now mounted with a 7/16 Bolt and the u nut.

This just happened to a friend of mine. New 2012 Switch Back. Bag fell off. Bakersfield Harley covered it fully. I suppose it depends on the dealer. I long ago took off the factory bag locking set up and went with the U bolt setup. Never a problem.
