1000 Mile service, should hd do it?

If I was buying a new Harley, that would be part of my negotiations for the dealer to pick it up. Far as I am concerned if Harley Davidson cannot make a bike they can trust with out checking it at 1000 mile then it should be free. I am sure the dealer is going to whine and cry boo ho and say no since I have tried three time to buy bikes from my local dealer and the last time I offered book and the jerk still wanted $4000 over. Of course he said he was going to give me $4000 in chrome parts?

I never said it was a secret checklist. I said I don't trust someone that doesn't use it. And I like to have a copy of it at least to show each item was taken care of.

Save yourself the money. I am as handy as a one handed baboon and I was able to change all three fluids. Cost.... $75.00. Each spring, I do send the bike to a mechanic to do a quick check to see if anything needs tightening, adjusting or lubing. He charges me $90.00 to go through the bike. As long as you change the fluids religiously, you shouldn't have any issues on a new bike during the 2 year warranty period. Just my opinion.
This is my philosophy as well. I changed all three my fluids today, took 40 mins or so. I do however like to have my bike checked out once a year by someone who is a professional. I did last year and he caught a few things that I missed, nothing major, just stuff that could have gotten costly down the road.

2010 sg due for the first service. I dont have any factory warranty left as I'm the second owner and due to age of the bike. Hd wants over $450 to do the first service and a local chopper shop that works on HD will do it for $325. Does it matter who does it? Is a HD mechanic better or more qualified then a mom and pop shop mechanic? The place is called Big Daddy Cycles in Hayes, Va. Never heard bad things or good about them? They told me they will do the same work as the HD dealer and inspect/adjust everything.
