I am about 800 miles over my 1k. I flat out skipped the recommended 500 mile. Oh well. Runs like a champ

I was worried about the same situation that I had. I had mine done last Wednesday with 1280 on the clock, dealer said it was fine and like the one post above said its better to be over than under.

I've heard at 1,001 miles, the engine will quit on ya.

Didn't know you that you must bring the bike in at exactly 1000 miles, or risk
the loss of your warranty coverage??

Don't worry about it. I was somewhere around 1800 cause I had to wait a week. The bigger problem is that you are going to ride the weekend and to work everyday and only add 300 miles. If you are riding the weekend I would think you would add more that each day.

Why even take it for first service let alone worry. Change oil give it a look over and ride.

Not to worry...HD will still take your $$$. If you're concerned...$60 service manual + $75 parts/supplies = self-satisfaction of performing your own maint. Also, knowing it was done corect vs. letting the "new" HD service tech take a stab at your ride...
