I have a BAL-1 and I'm not sure what you're looking at. I could not find anything in my instructions or the brake light mode/patterns sheet they sent me that says "not" to leave the tail light in intensity level 3.....

Per their brake light modes/pattern sheet;

Level 1 = 1%, emulates stock light run intensity
Level 2 = 3%, brighter than stock run intensity
Level 3 = 10%, equivalent to stock brake light intensity

I use level 3, and it's just a bit brighter than my LED turn signals in run mode with their red lenses. If anybody is thinking that I'm riding with my foot on the brake, when I actually hit the brake, they'll know the difference.....!!

Hope this helps.....

I'll have to check but I think I set mine at the lowest level to have the greatest contrast when braking. It might be at 2 but certainly not at 3

Default Ba-1

I have mine on Level 2 which is very bright. I have not heard of not using Level 3. I have noticed cars staying back further since I put the light on. Best investment I made for my EG.

I use level 3... It's friggin' bright, too. Rode behind my bike on a friend's a couple weeks ago and I think I'm going to level 2...

That said -- It's been on level 3 since early 2008 - No issues (except extreme brightness - especially at night).

That is what I do as well. My turn signals are running lights so when it goes from 1 to 20-flash at level three it is hard to miss.

Level 3 since I got it 2 yrs ago.

The sunshine is bright down here in South Florida, hence the level 3.
