SE Aircleaner and ECM remap/Flash.
I have stopped going with the remap/Flash, because it has limitations. I now go with the SE Aircleaner and SERT. That way when I do other mods down the road I don have to pay again(wasted money on the stage one download) I just get the bike dyno'd.
I prefer to stay with Harley Davidson parts with regard to the ECM, If there are problems that precludes finger pointing. People say that all of these downloads help with the heat but I think that is a subjective statement. We ride a air-cooled bike and it get hotter than hell when sitting in traffic. When you are moving no problem.
Welcome to the board and enjoy your limited.

Have the same bike. First Harley also. I am in the process of doing a stage 1. Just put in V&H twin slash rounds. Next is the header pipe, Big sucker and Dyno with a programmer. The bike will run cooler with a remap regardless. However with the full stage 1 it will be cooler and run better. Enjoy your ride and welcome to the HD world. I'm loving it.

"Stage 1" is a term that I don't particularly care for, but that's besides the point. The reason I don't care for it are that there are so many variations possible within the "Stage 1" mo****r.
Aside from that, Stage 1 typically refers to modification of the intake (air cleaner), exhaust (headers and mufflers or mufflers alone), and a tune or tuner of some type.
As far as helping with heat, that is dependent on the tune. The tune will lower the combustion chamber temperatures if you richen the AFR, but the heat you feel is a more subjective matter.

I agree with dswansbiker. Contact FuelMoto or check out the website @ www.fuelmotousa.com. The guys at FuelMoto are highly respected by the forum members and they're a top notch facility with excellent customer service. (good prices, too!)

I have done the complete Stage 1 (sig). I have put about 250 miles on. Here are my observations:
-I really like the sound
-it is cooler
-gas milage is worse
-back firing in the 30 mph to 60 mph range
-bike rode smoother before I had this done
I am taking into dealer in the morning for a retune/dyno. I really hope they have someone that knows what they are doing, because i spent a lot of money and I expect a great improvement. The bike ran perfectly before.
