I took my backrest off yesterday for about a 30 mile ride, and it was completely different. I really didn't enjoy anything about that ride. Has anyone else who regularly rides with a backrest had the same experience?

Same here, mine does not come off, even when the OL is riding. Sucks getting old.
Hey Passrusher75, is the adjustable backrest easily removeable like the non adjustable or at least less adjustable version? I had the non adjustable rider backrest on my RKC and was able to take it off and put it on in 30 seconds. I want to get an adjustable one for my EGC but still want to be able to remove it. Thanks! Don
Yes Don, there is a small release on the side just below the seat cover, just run your finger down the side of the back rest, push in, and lift it off. Does not take 5 seconds. It uses a small charged cylinder that pushes it forward when you push the adjustment lever. I also like how it folds down forward, to make it easier for passenger to get on.
If you get one, they are not hard to install, but the directions are useless. It will only go on one way, just use common sense. Sorry about being late to get back with you, lots been going on here...
Coudn't ride without one! If you have a "bad" back, ......it's a must, at least for me it is.
Yup Ive got degenerative disk disease and if I ride without a backrest for any amount of time, I will end up in traction which is agonizing in it of itself. The mustang bkrst I have is the one that feels the best on my particular issue....D.O. doesnt advise riding bikes but thats not an option for me.
I commute 70 miles round trip and I have a bad back so a backrest is a must for me. Once in a while I'll take it off when I wanna strip down the RKC but its only for short distances. My C&C seat doesn't offer much support either so I tend to have the backrest on more than not.
Funny, I picked one up here on the forums. Rode it in several different locations and finally found a spot I liked. Got my new seat from Mean City Cycles (I am vertically challenged). Slapped it on the Street Glide, the butt pocket is a little lower and fits me like a glove. The backrest just did not feel right so I took it off and am much more happy without it.
It's going for sale by tomorrow.

From one Glen to another Glenn, what are you going to ask for the seat?
