Default 21 inch front wheel on a SG. Whats the ride like?

Talking to my mechanic and told him I'm thinking going with a 21 on the front as well as lowering the forks. He asked me if I had ridden that set up ever? Really got we second guessing. Honest thoughts would be helpful. I do a lot of long rides and don't want it to take away.

Default 21" wheel

My 08 SG started out with an 18 Renegade wheel on it right from the dealer. I rode that for about 20K I think it was. When I changed wheels if I had closed my eyes and not have known it was changed I wouldn't have known. Handling was fine, parking lot maneuverability was fine. From end had been lowered already by 1" so the raise at the seat was about 1/8" after the new wheel was put on. Being short I was definitely concerned about that. In any event high speed as well as low speed riding did not change for me. I am not a hard rider by any means but for me it was a no brainer.

It's a little rougher not anything to worry about. I just put 21" on my street glide and so far i like it. Will be lowering the front 1" soon.

I am not going to make the claim it rides better than stock, but it doesnt ride any worse either. Slow speeds take a little getting used to at first, but within 10 minutes you will be fine. People want to say that it effects long distance riding, but it is complete opposite. When I am on the highway I can not tell the difference between the 21 and the stock. I also lowered my front end about an inch

Most people end up lowering there front end, so that is something to consider.
At a dealer that'll cost ya about $400.

I rode a 21" for 25,000 miles. It was never a problem once you got over 10 mph.
Pulling in and out of driveways is the only time you will notice it.
..and maybe if you drive on a really crappy Texas county road. lol

I do prefer my 19" over the 21" though.

I run a 21/18 setup. I had to remove my rear wheel to send it back due to the chrome chipping. I just reinstalled my stock rear (16) and front (18) for the time being. I rode it today for the first time and I couldn't tell any difference in the ride. Slow speed turning takes some getting used to though. I plan on lowering the front end 1" when I get my wheel back, so hopefully the handling will be back to a stock feel.

Wink

I had a 21" on my 2011 RGC and it was a bit rougher and harder to keep in turns. I now have a 2012 CVO RGC with a stock 19" agitator wheel and it handles like a dream compared to my 21" set up. Most people don't realize what they are giving up when switching to a 21" wheel because they never go back to stock heights. I did, and noticed big time.
