Exclamation Need Help - Going to pick up bike tomorrow wrong cams installed

Hi Guys -

I was checking my invoice today for stock 2012 103 streetglide cam install and noticed that the indy shop did not install the 37 cams they had quoted. The invoice states 54H cams installed. No difference on the price but beside the obvious concern I have over switching parts without asking, is the 54H cam a fair or better option?

As background; they have also installed a Bassani Road Rage II B4 2-1, SE rods and a TTS tuner with 4 hours on the dyno. Can't remember the exact results he gave me over the phone but something like 96hp and 98tq from the dyno.

I am riding 2up about 75% of the time and just have not had enough time to research the 54H...weird that they did this, maybe it's a typo on the invoice. Just want to know how to handle this before coughing up $2600.

Thanks for any feedback.

You'll be fine with the 54H in a 103.

I have the 54H in my 07 Fat Boy (w/ SE 103 Big Bore Kit) and am very happy with them. My guess is you will be too.

For that kind of money you could have a fm 107 kit

My concern is compression. I believe my stock 103 makes 9:6:1 and the 54 seems to want more than that. Not sure that a fm 107 kit is a fair comparison as I do not own a wrench..I had (what I thought) was a reputable shop do the work and run the dyno for 4 hours.......

If it was me I would have them put in the cams I wanted in the first place.

The 54 works best at 10-10.2:1. Can always run a 4* advanced gear with the 54 too

If they are a reputable shop there must be a reason of stature. As dawg had said they should be fine especially for 2-up riding. JMO. As you had said there was no price change as well. Chat with them let them give their opinion or reasoning for doing what they had done and why. JMO I feel they made a decent choice.

Nope...
My bike, My money.... make it right Mr. reputable shop owner!
Wouldn't be runnin' any 4* advance bullchit... tryin' to cover a mistake made.

But that's just me.

Good luck
