Rain set up?

Aerostich Darien jacket and trousers, Shoei full-face helmet, HD Gore-Tex gloves, and HD waterproof boots. I can (and have) stayed dry over a couple of days of light rain.
For me, the best tactic is to get off the expressway and onto the two-lanes; there is so much spray from cars and trucks on the expressway that I don't think anything could keep you dry over the course of a solid day of rain.

[There is no trick to riding in the rain except one: do NOT ride the center of a lane when it starts raining... all the oil on the road gets 'lifted' and it gets a bit slippery. Ride in the tire grooves from the cars and trucks. Also, watch when riding on concrete. Depending on how its grooved... can be some real fun. Asphalt is the better rain surface. Just did two 2-day trips completely in the rain (about 1500 miles). I tend to pull off if the radar is RED, otherwise, yellow, green, blue, means go for it].Quote
Good thread, looking for a bit of rain gear myself. I can add a little wise info to this myself from just a day or two ago. Going to the on ramp in this part of the country they install metal cattle guards in some cases instead of the painted ones. Found myself going sideways and squirley for a minute going across it in the rain. Make sure you hit em straight on. My 2 cents. Kind of a no brainer, but worth mentioning.

I too need to be buying a rain suit. From what I've gathered the HD HiVis seams like the way to go. FXRG jacket and pants with Gerbings gloves have me covered in cool/cold weather.

As much as I'd love to have a gore-tex rain suit (that isn't camoflaged like my hunting one), I just couldn't afford one for both the wife and I. And I've yet to be caught out in the rain. So I elected to get a cheaper suit. I haven't tested it yet, but so far I really like the way it fits, slides over my outer clothing and boots, and most certainly the price.

If you want a repellent to spray on regular clothes, go to Bass Pro, Cabela's, or Dick's and look for rain repellent in the camping section.
For leather, Sno Seal is the best stuff out there. Work it into the leather and it'll stay water proof for quite a while.

I don't mind riding in the rain but I hate getting wet, paticularly my face. I've got a workable solution for almost everything but my face.
Rain gear is always on the bike. I try to suit up before I need it. If you wait until you are already wet, it's too late. It annoys me that the guys I ride with want to make sure it's something other than a brief shower before they stop to suit up.
I ride in Frogg Toggs. I am quite satisfied with them except the pants are too short since I am 6' 3." I solve that by putting on gaitors. I ride in a 3/4 and always keep a Faceshield on the bike. It is an annoyance since I wear glasses. I get spray up from the bottom inside the shield, and eventually I my glasses are wet inside and out in addition to looking through the wet shield. I bought a full face last fall but I haven't tried it in the rain yet. We'll see.
