Default Tire beads inplace of weights.

Just replaced the stock HD Dunflop with an Avon Venom. Decided to try the Dyna Beads in place of weights for once to see if they are worth it. Droppped in the bottle worth and aired it up and away we go. About 100 miles into new tire I decide to see how she handles in some "Slightly" over highway speeds!!

I seem to want to say it has a slight side to side "sway". Kinda like a slide of sorts. Has anyone else noticed this in their adventures? I put in 2-1/2oz that came with the bottle and tube. It is on an 09 SE Ultra.

I had a shop put a new tire on the front of my Heritage, and they used beads to balance. It had so much vibration, and ended up having a second shop re-balance and they used weights. Immediately took care of the wobble I was experiencing. For me, I won't do the beads again.

I've had them on both my bikes and they work great. On those with a bad experience, I'd be curious what the shop put and how much.

I've been using the Dynabeads several years with great success. I put them in the brand new stock Dunlops and now have them in the new Dunlop American Elite's on my 2010 RK. Got 25K on it and no problems. I haven't tried the Avon tires. on any of my touring bikes. I've never experienced what you described. I use 2oz rear and 1 oz front. I run 40 PSI in both F&R tires.

One thing, you have to be careful when you install the tire. You do not want to get a lot of the lubricate they use to mount tires on the inside. It will cause the Dynabeads to stick together and create a heavy mass of weight. Some guy's spray the lube all inside the tire when mounting. I put Dynabeads inside the tires on my wife's Triglide right after we got it home. Rode down the road and it was bouncing all over the place. Took the tires off, broke them down and the inside was a mess. The Dynabeads were stuck to the lube in places all around the tire. I had to wash the inside with soap and water, dry them good and reinstall everything. Ran fine after that.

I took my rear tire to an Indy to install for $30. I told them I was going to run Dyna beads and be sure not to over lube when installing tire. He thanked me for telling him. I put the beads in 20 minutes later and did not have any problems. 2.5 oz in rear runs smooth. I am sold on them.

What you're feeling isn't a function of the Dynabeads. You went from a worn out Dunlop, that probably had a pretty flat cross sectional profile, to a fresh Venom, which has a very "V" shaped cross sectional profile. Look at both the old an new tire from behind and you'll see what I mean. The venoms fall into a turn faster than any tire I have ever run. This quick "fall-in" may be what you are feeling. The beads should begin to distribute themselves around the inside of the tire once you get any speed up. They don't have enough mass to slosh around enough for you to feel.

Did you do both front and rear?
On my last Sporty I replaced the stock tires with Venom's first thing I noticed was how much smoother it road. I even stopped to make sure they had air in them. Did you not notice that?
As for the beads my Indy said you have to let the tires dry overnight before the beads go in or they will stick in side to the liquid soap. That's why he won't sell or put them in.

I have tried them in the past and did't notice much if any difference so now I just have the shop balance with weights.

Don't try and check your air pressure out on the road unless you have an air compressor with you. You need to give the valve stem a shot of air before checking pressure. If not the beads will stick in the valve.
