11,000? I replaced my OEM rear at 7500 miles (though it wasn't down to the cords.). I am also "aggressive" and alot of city miles so I think rear tire mileage is directly related to "TwistOfTheWrist".

Got the Pirellis onto the bike last night. Rode in to work this morning, aware of the production coating still on the tire. Despite that, the tire really seemed to grip on each and every move I made. Almost troubling, like it knew what I wanted to do in advance.

Great stuff - we can all rest easy now!

Give your tyres 100 miles or so before pushing them, to wear through that coating. My brother slid off his bike riding home after having fitted a new tyre, thinking it would be OK to throw it into a favourite bend!

Been riding the Night Dragons now for over a week. Great tire. Actually, I think they handle better than the Avon Venom/Storm. It's a quiet tire and the cornering is very smooth. In hard acceleration, the grab with each shift is awesome.

Several years ago, I was on a trip in the NC mountains on my VTX 1800 when we discovered that my Avon Venom on the rear was "slightly" used up. We were 80 miles from the motel at that time. I tried riding it slowly (35mph) for a while but became a nervous wreck. I finally rode my buddy's bike back to the motel and got the trailer. BTW...the tire had 7,500 miles on it. There were 4 places like the one shown spaced at 90 degrees around the tire.
