What should be about the norm running temp of the oil on a Harley 131 build with 650 cams? is over 250 too high??

Dam...That's one sweet torque curve you got goin' on there.
From what little I know about oil temps, you should be OK.
Question is, do you ride 10 - 20k miles a year? If not , who cares.
As far as I know, plain ol' Harley oil will work at them temps.
If you use synthetic oil, any major name brand will be good at 250 plus a hell of a lot more.
Change oil at 2000 miles and you will be fine.

I imagine 250 would be right inline for a 131 build. My 120R averages 220 on an 80 degree day. I do remember reading somewhere that the Jims 131 engines ran extremely hot.

There is also a 21 tooth sprocket which gives a 19% tq advantage but the higher faster rpms has it draw backs

If you think a fan assisted cooler might be in your future, keep me in mind for your vertical. I'm also on the fence but could be interested. No hurry on my end as I probably won't be installing till my next oil change in about a month. Still looking and reading the info too

If you got a thermostat adapter, I can get you at least 15 degrees cooler!
